What is a Sandwich steel?

Also called San Mai in Japan, a sandwich steel is the overlay of at least three layers of metal. In the centre, a steel with high hardness on both sides, a more resilient shade to allow your knife blade to enjoy the properties of each.

This carbon sandwich steel consists of a 100C6 carbon steel core with a hardness of 59 HRC after soaking between two more malleable and resilient S235 steel layers. This steel can be used in the manufacture of blades of all types.
