This natural stone of the Pyrénées of oval section is very practical to sharpen all types of blades.
Of a semi-hard quality, its "bitter" finish gives it a grainy appearance. This versatile stone has an important grip and therefore excellent efficiency.
Naturally homogenous at extraction, the PIERRE D'AFFûtage naturel semi-dure des Pyrénées is polished under water spraying according to two types of finish: smooth or "blend" finish (granular). The PIERRE TO AIGUIZE "Aiguise-tout" des Pyrénées is of a finished so-called "burst" by a swing of about 1h30 in a bath of clear water and gravel, which naturally gives it a granular appearance and a strong aggressiveness on the metal.
It can be used dry but also with water for less aggressive contact on the metal blades.
In the heart of Cathar country, just a few blocks away from the legendary castle of Montsegur and the "Citadels of Dizziness", close to the extraordinary caves of Tarascon d'Ariège full of stories and mysteries, the last French career in activity produces this PIERRE to AIGUIZE "Aiguise-tout" in the purest craft tradition.
The PIERRE "Aiguise toute" of the natural Pyrenees is composed of a schistose sandstone of mineralogic purity and exceptional grain finesse. Stone shaping and finishing are carried out on site according to traditional methods.
This natural stone from the Pyrenees can be used dry or with water for a less aggressive contact with the material to sharpen giving a remarkable edge to your knives and garden tools blades.
No special maintenance is required except, from time to time, and when regular use leaves metal deposits, a brushing made with hot water with some soap or dishwashing fluid followed by a meticulous rinse.
