Pure Nickel

The pure Nickel is perfect for making contrasting Damascus.

Nickel is part of the non-ferrous metal group. Of white/silver colour, it naturally has a shiny appearance after polishing. Quite ductile and malleable, it is a material that is relatively easy to deform (rolling, stretching...). Nickel is highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation and is not reactive to acids.

Nickel pure for making Damascus steel:

Pure nickel is highly appreciated in Damascus steel manufacturing by associating with another metal. Indeed, it allows after revelation to obtain very bright whites and therefore very contrasting Damascus steel patterns.

The limits of pure nickel:

This metal is in principle non-toxic but can cause prolonged contact with the skin, allergies or itching.

Nickel has a relatively low hardness and should not be used on the edge of a blade. We'd rather use it as a sandwich or with a reported edge.
