INFORMATION & ADVICE

The blacksmith's third hand.

All blacksmiths know: A tool in hand and a well held piece make a piece easy to work.

Sometimes called the "3rd hand" of the blacksmith, the forge guillotine is a firm, simple and effective holding device, tools for hot metal shaping.

For the production of a groove or shoulder on a knife blade, for example, or even for the forging of a guard, this device firmly maintains the upper and lower pads pre-set to the desired shape.

Valuable help for the blacksmith who only has to position his piece out of the fireplace between the two pads and realize its shape by hammer.

An easy to use forge guillotine.

Mobile and robust, this forge guillotine is used in the simplest way possible by attaching the upper and lower pads with plates firmly held by screws.

Mounts are removable and allow the use of tools with a thickness of 10 or 20mm by 50mm. The height must of course allow the passage of the room without encumbering.

Its well-thought-out design in the shape of "C" and the deported stamp holders of a few degrees allow a convenient use for the approach to the blacksmith's pliers of the workpiece that is not hindered.

With a vertical opening of 100mm (excluding stamping), the forge guillotine allows to work parts of volumes rather respectable.

A robust and easy to move guillotine.

With its rather modest footprint of about 250mm depth, 220mm height and 120mm width, this sturdy construction forge guillotine weighs only about 8.6kg and can easily be transported from one location to another in the workshop or even, for field forgers, be integrated into a travelling workshop.

The tool change is easy and fast, as well as its attachment to an established or in the square hole of the anvil.
