This mokume-gane was made in the purest tradition of Japanese blacksmiths by the Markus Balbach workshops. A damassed band pattern composed of bronze, copper and brass that displays all the charm and delicacy of yellow, grey and red undulating shades. The contrast revealed by heat treatment gives a volume impression to this mokume-gane metal.

Metal mokume gane, what is its origin?

This material, born in 17th century Japan and believed to have disappeared in the late 1800s, was reborn from its ashes in the 1970s when a handful of passionate and some rare Japanese blacksmiths succeeded in restoring the prestige of the mokume-gane and restoring its letters of nobility thanks to preserved know-how intact.
