INFORMATION & ADVICE

Round G10 stems for decoration.

Round Ø6 mm G10 rods for decorative inserts in all colours in handles of knives or other usual objects. Imputrescible, non-conductive and moisture-insensitive, the G10 composite material brings an original color touch to all your creations.

An ultra modern composite material.

Composite materials result from a heterogeneous assembly of at least two components which do not mix but which, by a high capacity of interpenetration, constitute a new material possessing the mechanical properties which the components of the assembly do not have alone.

The G10 is an assembly of woven glass fiber and a hot-cast epoxy resin.

Its properties make it a material of choice, and especially in cutlery for the manufacture of sleeves, decorative inserts or even... blades!

- Easy to work.

- Light and extremely resistant.

- Electrical and thermal insulation.

- Insensitive to moisture and chemicals.

Coloured in the mass, our round G10 Stems are available in 6 colours to give free rein to your creativity.

Did you know that?

Composite materials began to be developed for industry during the 20th century.

With an increasingly demanding industrial development, chemists and scientists have devised assemblies of extreme complexity to meet the challenges of advanced technologies such as aerospace, automotive construction and information and communication technologies.

These materials, which have long been tested and tested sometimes in extreme conditions, have largely demonstrated their qualities and have eventually been adopted, for our greatest satisfaction, in more common areas, closer to us, and especially in cutlery.

As modern as composite materials are, their invention is not as recent as that.

Indeed, materials from an aggregate of different components to obtain a new more resistant one were used long before antiquity, well before the invention of the modern term "composite".

One of the best known ancient "composites" materials is the "torchis", an assembly of water, clay and vegetable or animal fibres (paille, hay, horsehair, etc.).

This material, widely used in construction, became resistant after drying and still meets today in the pretty old half-timbered houses.

Finally, nature always does things well, there are also natural composite materials such as... bone and wood!

Historical uses of the G10.

Originally developed for aeronautics and aerospace, the G10 quickly conquered, thanks to its exceptional qualities of resistance, entire sections of the modern industry for, for example, manufacturing as diverse as windsurfing fins and gun hooks.

Easy to work, molded in different shapes and thicknesses, dyed in various colours, its insulating qualities also make it appreciated in electrical or computer constructions.

Very popular in cutlery, Eurotechni offers round G10 Tips for an original decoration of knives, but also in plates and pads for the manufacture of sleeves.

How to use round G10 Tigers?

Very easy to work, round G10 Stems are mainly used in cutlery for sleeve decoration or to mask rivets or assembly screws.

Instructions for use:

- Make a shallow hole in the handle at the diameter of round G10 Stems.

- Breathe well and clean the drill to remove all dust or chips.

- Take the round G10 stem and gently "dry" with very fine abrasive paper and hand to make it slightly rough.

- The inserting rod must have a diameter very slightly less than the bore diameter so that it can enter into pressure but without undue stress.

- Insert the rod gently with a small hammer until fully inserted.

- Cut the G10 rod at the end of the handle with a thin tooth saw.

- Puncing and polishing the set normally.

The assembly can be done with glue or resin for a very good hold.

However, for a perfect assemblage just as resistant and without the risk of seeing a small thickness of glue or resin, a "dry" assembly is preferable, provided that the diameter of the rod is perfectly adjusted with the diameter of the drilling.

To facilitate the insertion of the stem, some knife mounters lightly coat the edge of the stem with some dry Marseille soap or with paraffin.

With a lot of creativity, some cutlery manage to make cocards, for example, by inserting hollow carbon fibre rods into the handle and, inside, inserts of G10 Tigers round in different colors.

A guaranteed result and spectacular effect!
